Samajwadi Party (SP) president Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday met State Governor Ram Naik and handed over a memorandum the ‘deteriorating law and order situation’ in the state. He met Governor at Raj Bhawan in the state’s capital.

It comes on the backdrop of massive protest over the murder of a minor girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. The girl’s mutilated body was found in a garbage dump on June 2.

Raising questions over the state government, Akhilesh Yadav said Girls are safe not under this government, What is the government doing. He further said, ‘Daughters are raped and murdered, is this the new India’.

Expressing concern, Yadav said that it is unfortunate that these incidents are happening, is this how civil society looks like’.

Yadav had on June 12 in a tweet said, ‘Rapes, murders and political killings are increasing at an alarming rate. The CM is chairing meetings upon meetings but the law and order situation is only deteriorating. Now the first woman head of the bar council of Agra has been shot. Even upholders of the law are not safe’.

While BSP Supremo Mayawati also slammed the BJP-led Government over Law and Order Issue.

In a tweet on June 12, Mayawati said, ‘The heinous murder of the newly elected President of the up bar, Dervish Yadav, in the Agra court complex, is very deplorable and highly condemnable. At the same time, the unprovoked thrashing of journalists by the police in Shamli proves that the anarchy and the jungle rule of the BJP has increased even more after the Lok Sabha elections’.
