Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu reigns upped the ante against Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh after it was reported that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be keeping away from the election campaigning for a while after suffering damage to his vocal cords.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the former State health Minister claimed that the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Punjab Congress affairs in-charge Asha Kumari ensured that she did not get a ticket from Amritsar parliamentary constituency for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Interestingly Navjot Kaur Sidhu had earlier said that when she was offered a ticket from Amritsar by Congress, she and her husband refused the ticket. The statement was made by her after Congress fielded Pawan Kumar Bansal from Chandigarh constituency. In her statement, she said, “I never wanted to contest from Amritsar. I had categorically said no to the ticket. Amritsar is a big parliamentary constituency and with Navjot Singh Sidhu busy with campaigning across the country it would have been difficult for me to manage.”

Navjot Kaur was previously in speculation for the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat but Congress renominated sitting MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla from the constituency.

Hitting the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Chief in charge Asha Kumari she said that, “Captain Saab (Amarinder Singh) and Asha Kumari think Navjot Singh Sidhu doesn’t deserve a single ticket.” She added that “My ticket from Amritsar constituency was cut on the pretext that after the Amritsar train accident, I can’t win from here.”

She said that there is no need of campaigning for Navjot Singh Sidhu when captain Amarinder Singh has already said that he is winning all 13 seats in Punjab. Taking a jibe at Asha Kumari and Amarinder Singh she said that, ” Captain Saab is our senior leader and our captain. Asha Kumari is a star campaigner. They will do the campaigning. Sidhu will campaign where Rahul Gandhi has deployed him”.

13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will go to polls in seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 19. The results will be announced on May 23.
