Guwahati: The Union Home Minister Amit Shah late Friday reached Guwahati and thanked the people for the warm welcome.

Amit Shah on Saturday formally will launch the BJP’s campaign for next year’s Assam assembly polls.

After landing at the airport, Amit Shah was received by Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Chief Minister, Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s National Vice-President Baijayant Jay Panda, Assam BJP in-charge, state party President Ranjit Kumar Dass among other leaders.

Amit Shah took to the microblogging site Twitter and wrote, “Reached Guwahati! I wholeheartedly thank the people of Assam for such a warm welcome.”

Sarbananda Sonowal also tweeted, “I heartily welcomed Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji at Guwahati airport and thanked him on behalf of the people of Assam as he is set to launch several developmental projects for the state.”

He was welcomed bg folk artists and locals gathered outside Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati to welcome the Union Home Minister.

His programs in Guwahati on December 26 incorporate the distribution of financial grants to 8,000 Namghars (customary Vaishnavite cloisters of Assam) under the Assam Darshan program. He will likewise lay the foundation stones for the improvement of “Batadrava Than” as a social, cultural, and tourist destination, another medical school in Guwahati, and nine law universities to be set up across Assam.

On December 27, at an occasion in Imphal, the Union Home Minister will lay the foundation stones of the Churachandpur Medical College, the state government visitor house at Imphal, the Manipur Bhawan, Dwarka in New Delhi, the IIT at Muongkhong, the State Police Headquarters at Imphal, and the Integrated Command and Control Center City in Imphal.
