To end 24 year old left rule in Tripura, Bhartiya Janata Party has started its preparation. To kick off the proceedings, BJP chief Amit Shah will visit the state on May 6th.  On the visit, Amit shah will address a rally of BJP workers and will draft the strategy of next year’s assembly elections.

BJP has been gaining a lot of momentum lately. In 2014, only 15,000 applied for BJP membership and the figure rose to over 2 lakhs this year. According to Tripura’s BJP spokesperson Mrinal Kanti Deb, four chief ministers including Yogi Adityanath, Jharkhand’s Raghuvar Das, Sarbananda Sonowal of Assam, and Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh will visit Tripura within next 2 months.

The initial strategy of BJP in Tripura will be to send central ministers at regular intervals to guide people about schemes and initiatives of the central government. It will also play a key part in establishing a connect between BJP’s key leadership and the people of the state. Tripura has been governed by left parties inspired by Marxist ideology for over 24 years straight.

An ET Report quoted one of the senior BJP leaders to state that as many as 6 TMC members and they might join BJP as and when Amit Shah gives his clearance. BJP has been working on revamping the party structure in the state. In the recently concluded autonomous district civic polls, BJP held number 2 spot in various areas, the position which was till now held by Congress.

According the above quoted leader, there is no word yet about the coalition in the state. BJP will contest election on all the 60 assembly seats. However, one third of the seats in Tripura assembly are reserved for Tribal candidates.
