To take on the SP-BSP Alliance in Uttar Pradesh, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to intensify its campaign in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by lining up a number of events involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party National President Amit Shah to reach its voter base in the state that sends 80 Parliamentarians to the Lok Sabha.

Formation of the Samajwadi Party (SP)Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alliance and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s entry into active politics as the new All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary for UP (East), has forced the Bhartiya Janta Party to take steps to plan a series of events for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the prime minister is set to lay foundation stones for multiple projects in Jhansi on February 15 that includes a Defence manufacturing corridor. PM Modi will also address a public meeting in Jhansi.

On February 19, PM Modi will visit his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi to inaugurate infrastructure projects that include a cancer hospital. PM Modi will also address a rally in Varanasi’s Rohania Assembly segment, the report in the english newspaper adds.

The prime minister will return to UP on February 24 to address a session of BJP Kisan Morcha’s National Convention in Gorakhpur. The convention would be inaugurated by Shah a day earlier. Gorakhpur, a bastion of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was won by SP-BSP in the 2018 Lok Sabha by-elections.

The BJP president is also expected to visit the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj (erstwhile Allahabad) on February 13, where he is likely to interact with saints of various akharas and meet local party leaders.

He is also likely to visit address party workers in eastern UP on February 26 in either Ghazipur or Ballia, the report quotes a BJP leader as saying.

PM Modi and Shah’s growing public engagements in UP come at a time when the Congress is also stepping up its campaign. On February 11 Monday, Priyanka Gandhi, along with his brother and Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia held a massive roadshow in Lucknow.

Opinion Polls have already suggested that with the Formation of Alliance with SP-BSP, BJP is set to lose big in Uttar Pradesh, that state that in 2014 General Elections elected 73 BJP MPs.

According to ABP News and CVoter, The Survey predicted that NDA is set to lose heavily in Uttar Pradesh. BJP – who had in 2014 won 73 out of 80 seats – is now heaving its upper hand in just 25 seats of the state. While new BSP-SP alliance likely to dash all the hopes of BJP. The poll predicted BSP-SP would win 51 seats in the state if elections happen today. While Congress could manage to bag 4 seats in the state.

While an Opinion Poll conducted by  Times Now – VMR predicted SP-BSP to win 51 seats, while BJP will be reduced to 27 seats against its 73 in 2014, said Opinion Poll. Congress who managed to won only won 2 seats in last LS Polls expected to retain those two this time as well.
