Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief and a new entrant in the Cabinet, Amit Shah on Saturday took charge as Home Ministry, two days after he took oath along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah joined the North Block situated Building in presence of both the MoS (Ministry of Home Affairs). Reddy and Rai presented Shawl ad Bouquets to Amit Shah.

The two MoS – Reddy and Rai – also take the Charge later in the day.

Amit Shah was inducted in the Cabinet and rewarded with Home Portfolio by replacing another stalwart of the party, Rajnath Singh. Singh has been given the charge of Defence Ministry.

‘Took over as the Home Minister of India today. I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for believing in me . The security of the country and the welfare of the countrymen is the top priority of the Modi government, I will make every effort to complete it’, tweeted Shah in Hindi after taking Charge.

Shah will be a part of the Narendra Modi’S Top 4 – Cabinet Committee on Security – along with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Apart from these 4 high-level ministers, PM Narendra Modi is a part of CCS.

Being the Home Minister of the Country, Amit Shah will have to deal with the issue of the scrapping of Article 370. The promise of scrap Article 370 has always been featured in party’s poll promises. The issue of NRC is also something which is very dear to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Amit Shah in his poll campaign had also raised the issue.

Another big responsibility on Amit Shah’s shoulder is related to national security. Shah being the in-charge of MHA has to ensure that no Pulwama such attack on Civilians or Armed Forces does not take place.

He also has to take a call whether India will initiate an internal dialogue with all the stakeholders of Jammu and Kashmir or will have to go way with anti-muscular terror policies in the Valley.

Being Shah in the CCS also brings a vast experience of Political Arena.

Shah often referred to as Chanakya of modern Indian Politics for his excellent electoral management skills. Shah had in the last 5 years have proved himself as one of the biggest political minds in the country.

Because of his excellent polls management skills, Bharatiya Janata Party not only registered a massive mandate in the recently held polls but also score big in State Polls of Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Goa, and especially North Eastern States – which are once bastions of Congress party.

In Uttar Pradesh, It was Shah’s electioneering vis-a-vis which BJP bagged 303 seats in the State -highest by any party after 1971.

Shah was administrated oath by President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday along with PM Modi and 56 other ministers. On all 24 Cabinet Ministers, 9 Ministers of State with Independent Charge and 24 Ministers of State took the oath on Thursday.

Shah elected to the 17th Lok Sabha after registering a massive victory in terms of vote margin. Shah defeated Dr. CJ Chavda of Indian National Congress with a heavy margin of 5.55 Lakh votes. Shah who has been named by the party from its stronghold Gandhinagar secured 8,94,624 votes against 3,37,610 by Chavda.
