High Court of Andhra Pradesh issued notices to state officials regarding installation of statues of celebrities of film industry according to a complaint filed by social activist Bolisetty satyanarayana.

The high court of Andhra Pradesh served notices to R Karikal Valavan, principal secretary to AP government, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner M Harinarayan, Akkineni Kalasagar  Ponnada Mohan Rao, Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao and former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad according to a complaint filed by social activist Bolisetty Satyanarayana, states TNIE.

Social activist Bolisetty Satyanarayana had filed a complaint to the high court regarding the installation of statues of Telugu film director Dasari Narayana Rao, actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and TDP leader Nandamuri harikrishna. The statues had been installed along the beach road. The court had asked greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to get response from the persons who installed the statues.

The installation of statues in Andhra has continued since years. Last year Chief Minister Chandrababu naidu had unveiled the statue of TDP leader and actor-turned politician N T Rama Rao. The 36- feet tall statue was erected on a 40 foot platform at NTR sagar in Andhra Pradesh.

NTR had launched the Telugu Desam Party in 1982 with its slogan as Telugu self respect. This was the party that emerged as one and only political party to end the rule of Congress in the state since years.
