Balwantsinh Rajput

Amid the ongoing political tussle across the country, Balwantsinh Rajput of Gujarat Congress has quit the party. His decision follows the resignation of Shankersinh Vaghela, who was the opposition leader in the Gujarat assembly until a week back. Along with Balwantsinh Rajput, another MLA, Tejashree Patel has resigned from the party membership.

The next move of all the three members hasn’t been revealed. Shankersinh has ruled out going back in BJP, whereas, reports indicate that Balwantsinh might contest Rajya Sabha polls. There are also rumours that the two legislators might join BJP in the coming days.

Gujarat is going to witness assembly elections later this year and the permutations and combinations have started to surface already. These resignations by the legislators have made Congress even weaker and the party might have to think of a solid strategy to stand any chance in the upcoming assembly elections.
