Another setback to Mamata Banerjee, TMC lawmaker Arjun Singh shifts to BJP ahead of polls

In a major blow to the TMC(Trinamool Congress) in West Bengal, Arjun Singh, lawmaker from Bhatpara Assembly changed his party to the BJP(Bharatiya Janata Party) on Thursday in New Delhi.

Arjun Singh is considered to be am influential legislator from the state.

Arjun Singh wanted the ticket from Barrackpore Lok Sabha but he was renominated.

According to him, the people of Barrackpore are unhappy with the sitting lawmaker Dinesh Trivedi.

Arjun Singh is a four-term lawmaker from Bhatpara, with a hold in several other Assembly segments in the Barrackpore parliamentary seat.

Also he is the chairman of the Bhatpara municipality with loyal councillors.

Arjun Singh is considered to be very close with Mukul Roy, who was once Mamata Banerjee’s right hand man.

He is also known for using his muscle power and considered as a strongman.

Previously, on Tuesday, while announcing her candidates, Mamata Banerjee asserted that , there are some greedy people who wanted tickets but she couldn’t provide and they might change sides.

Earlier, on Tuesday, TMC Lok Sabha MP Anupam Hazra joined Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). He joined hands with BJP in the presence of BJP State In-Charge Kailash Vijaywargiya and Senior BJP Leader Mukul Roy.

Anupam Hazra was very close to TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee, he represents Bolpur Parliamentary Seat.
