TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu says of conducting post-poll alliance after the results of general elections are announced.

TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the opposition parties will form a post poll alliance on May 21 and would not let the BJP do it.

Earlier the Congress party had conducted a post-poll alliance with the JD(S) in Karnataka when the BJP had got a majority share of the seats. This way the Congress could form a government in the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party had earlier conducted a post-poll alliance in Goa and Manipur assembly polls.

Stating on post-poll alliance of opposition parties after elections, Naidu said, “On May 19, elections will be over. All of us will sit together and exchange ideas… Pre-election, the parties that were comfortable with each other formed an alliance. But post-election, even parties that contested against each other may too join, out of democratic and secular compulsions.”

“There are only three possible options. One, where the Congress leads; second, where the Congress supports from outside like in the United Front government or third, where the Congress has to join the alliance. There is no fourth option,” he added.

“The Election Commission is the referee to ensure elections are conducted fairly. Both us and the voters are the stakeholders. The EC has to do its duty and not be biased,” he said.
