The Anupriya Patel-led Apna Dal(S), a partner of Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh announced its Candidates for the mega battle of ballots 2019. The party who has been allotted two seats under poll pact has named Pakauri Lal Kol as its MP candidate from Robertsganj parliamentary Seat of UP’s Sonbhadra District.

Pakauri Lal Kol, a former Samajwadi Party Leader had joined Apna Dal (S) on March 27. He has contested the 2014 General elections from the same seat on SP ticket and secured the third spot.

While Apna Dal Chief Anupriya Patel will contest from its incumbent Mirzapur Lok Sabha Seat.

Apna Dal had in 2014 General Elections being an ally of Bharatiya Janata Party won all 2 contested seats. The party apart from Mirzapur contested Pratapgarh Lok Sabha Seat.

The Apna Dal had in 2016 amidst rift within the family split in with Apna Dal (S) and Apna Dal (Krishna Patel). The Latter has joined hands with Congress in a run-up to the mega battle of ballots.

Apna Dal contested two seats in 2014 Lok Sabha Polls and have 9 MLAs in the state assembly.

The NDA Ally who had in recent past threatened to pull out from National Democratic Alliance came to a common understanding after Union Minister and Apna Dal Leader Anupriya Patel held talks with Bhartiya Janta Party President Amit Shah.

Ironing Out Differences with Apna Dal(S) is seen as a big relief for the Bharatiya Janata Party Bhartiya Janta Party who has been in tension with its allies deserting the coalitions and at the time when BJP is expected to lose big in Uttar Pradesh with SPBSP coming together as predicted by many opinion polls.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Polls in 80 Lok Sabha seats of the state will spread on all seven phases. Both Mirzapur and Roberstganj Seat of the state will go to polls on May 19.

In 2014 General Elections, BJP led NDA banking on heavy Modi wave bagged 73 seats, while Congress to save its two bastions – Amethi and Rae Bareli. Samajwadi Party only secured 5 seats with its Founder Mulayam Singh Yadav contesting from two seats. Mayawati led BSP could not open its account.
