A day after AAP announced his tie-up with Apna Dal (Krishna Patel) in Uttar Pradesh for Lok Sabha 2019, the party on Sunday also clarified that its national Chief Arvind Kejriwal will not contest from Varanasi Parliamentary seats unlike 2014. Instead, the party will field a ‘strong’ candidate from the seat where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the seating MP. Kejriwal had in 2014 contested against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi.

The party has said that Kejriwal wants to give special focus to his state. “The AAP will contest on all the Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Goa. The party will contest on some seats in Uttar Pradesh. Final modalities will be worked out by February. Apart from Varanasi, the party will contest from seats in eastern and western UP, where the organization is strong,” AAP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh told PTI on phone.

Singh, as quoted by PTI, said, that his government in National Capital is working on many – Education, Health, Farmers, and power and we will carry forward the same into the national Politics. If we foray into national politics, then our issues will be the education for all, free education to economically weaker sections of the society, ending unemployment and implementing the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission,” Singh said.

Reacting on Kejriwal recent remark about not voting to Congress in Lok Sabha Polls 2019, Rajya Sabha MP told news wire, Kejriwal was quoted out of context. He had said that in a meeting in the national capital that if you want to defeat the BJP, then do not waste your vote by casting it in favor of the Congress. His statement was in the context of Delhi, from where the AAP is contesting on all the seats.

Kejriwal had made this remarks many times and warned the people against voting the Congress. He believes that Congress votes will cut into AAP Share and ensure victory for BJP.
