Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday wrote a Letter to Union Minister Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan in connection with the implementation of Centre’s Flagship Scheme Ayushman Bharat.

In a letter to Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated that ‘A good health scheme is already implemented in Delhi. Stopping it and implementing another won’t benefit anyone’.

He added, ‘If Delhi’s Health Scheme is stopped and Ayushman Bharat Yojana implemented, residents will be affected’.

He also asked Union Minister to highlight anything if he finds something in Ayushman Bharat which is missing in Delhi’s health scheme.

‘The health plan of Delhi has been appreciated internationally, yet if there is any good thing in the Ayushman scheme which is not in the health plan of Delhi, let the central government tell us that we will include all those schemes in the health schemes of Delhi.’, Delhi Chief Minister added in a letter.

The two-page letter draws a sharp differentiation between the two schemes – Ayushman Bharat by Centre and Delhi Health Scheme. Raising question over the scheme, he also stated that patients are coming from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to get treatment in the national capital. But there is hardly anyone from who go to UP and Haryana for treatment. It only shows that Delhi’s Healthcare is running successfully.

Explaining the difference, Kejriwal said, unlike Centre’s scheme, Delhi Healthcare Scheme is available to all 2 crore peoples of the national capital. Kejriwal also made a differentiation and said that Delhi Government Healthcare has no bar on the expenses unlike 5 Lakh rupees bar of Centre’s run Ayushman Bharat.
