Atishi, Aam Aadmi Party nominee from Delhi East Lok Sabha Seat wrote a letter to the returning officer regarding repeated violation of the model code of conduct by BJP Candidate Gautam Gambhir. She, in a page letter, said that Cricketer-turned-Politician had on April 28 held a rally without permission from Poll Commission.

Atish in a letter alleged that Gautam Gambhir had on April 28 at 9:30 am held a rally in J & K Block, Dilshad Garden without the permission from the Election Commission. ‘The rally held by him is in violation of Model Code of conduct’, AAP nominee stated in a letter.

She further requested the poll body to bar him for campaigning for 72 hours for continuous violation of the model code of conduct. ‘In the violation of repeated wilful violation, I request you to register FIR against him (Gautam Gambhir) and to bar him from campaigning for 72 hours’ added Atishi in the letter.

However, this is not the first time that Gautam Gambhir has been accused of holding a rally without permission. Earlier, Election Commission of India on Saturday directed the East Delhi Returning Officer to file an FIR against BJP nominee Gautam Gambhir, for “holding a rally in East Delhi without permission.

Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi East, K Mahesh on the direction of Poll Body asked Delhi Police to register an FIR against Gautam Gambhir for rallying without permission from the Poll Body on April 26.

He has been booked by the Poll Commission for allegedly violating the model code of conduct. He is accused of holding a rally without permission in Jangpura Assembly segment of the Delhi East parliamentary seat.

Slamming Gautam Gambhir, Atishi in a tweet took a dig and said, ‘First, Discrepancies in nomination papers. Then, Criminal offence of having 2 voter IDs. Now, FIR for (an) illegal rally. My question to @GautamGambhir: When you don’t know the rules, why play the game?”.

Earlier on Friday, AAP accused Gautam Gambhir of having two voter ID Cards which is a criminal office. Speaking to media, AAP nominee from Delhi East Atishi filed a criminal complaint in the trial court against cricketer & BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir on the issue. Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court to hear the matter on May 1.

Lok Sabha Polls 2019 has already begun and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23.

BJP in Delhi will be taking on Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. All 7 seats of Delhi will vote on May 12.

Gautam Gambhir in a run-up to the national elections in pitched against AAP’s Atishi, while Congress has named Arvinder Singh Lovely for the East Delhi Lok Sabha Seat.
