Almost all the opposition parties are extending their support to RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, after the recent CBI raids conducted at the premises of Lalu and his family members. However, JD(U) Chief Nitish Kumar continues to maintain its silence over the situation trying to disguise behind the image of ‘Mr. Clean’.

Though Bihar CM wishes to remain quite a leader of his JDU Parliamentary Party, Sharad Yadav on Monday said that the CBI and ED are deliberately targeting the opposition leaders in an attempt to break the unity of the non-NDA parties and further hamper the Bihar alliance. He told that “This tirade by agencies of the government which has been unleashed against many Opposition leaders is part of an attempt to break the united opposition, but this is impossible, we will unite.”

Even AICC backed the opinion of Sharad Yadav, few Congress leaders, and CPM chief Sitaram Yechury has also held discussions with RJD Chief showcasing their unity and extending their support to the chief. The unity talks all the oppositions leaders are boasting about comes as a result of 17 opposition parties coming together on one platform during a social lunch organised by Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi last month to decide a consensus candidate for Presidential polls.

A similar meeting is organised by Sonia on Tuesday for all the non-NDA parties to once again unite together to decide for a candidate for Vice-President elections due on Aug 5. Other than deciding the candidate the opposition also want to stand as one against NDA for several other issues. Though Congress is playing safe this time, after Nitish Kumar backing the NDA candidate and attending the launch of GST, all 17 parties attending the meet is a big question this time.

Significantly, Nitish Kumar had already said that he would not be attending the meeting on the grounds of his illness, however, he has called all senior leaders and legislators for a meeting in Patna around the same time for a meeting.
