Telangana Congress Working president and Cricketer turned Politician Mohammed Azharuddin on Wednesday rejected claims about him joining the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi ahead of Lok Sabha Polls 2019. A report from a leading daily claimed that Former Indian Captain would contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election on TRS ticket from Secunderabad. However, the former Congress MP ruled out the all such possibility.

Indian National Congress on November last year – just days ahead of Telangana State Polls – appointed Azharuddin as the working President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

Azharuddin making a clarification in a tweet said, “The news doing the rounds in the media of me joining the TRS party in Telangana is incorrect & false”.

According to the report in a leading news daily, it has been claimed that a non-resident Indian was negotiating with the TRS leadership about Azaharuddin joining the party. TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has responded positively to this development, the report further claimed.

The Cricketer-turned-politician entered politics in the year 2009 and won Lok Sabha Elections on a Congress ticket from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh in 2009. In 2014, he lost the Lok Sabha polls from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. Azharuddin has his eyes on Secunderabad Parliamentary seat for 2019 Lok Sabha.

Former Indian Cricket Captain who wished KCR after TRS landslide victory in the state was reportedly been to the wedding ceremony of All India Majlis-e-Ittihadul Muslimeen (MIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi‘s daughter. KCR, TRS working president KT Rama Rao, and his daughter MP K Kavitha were also present in the ceremony reportedly.
