The results of the Gujarat Rajya Sabha polls turned the tables in the favour of the disheartened Congress, once again instilling them with energy to fight.

The sinking boat of Congress is once again sailing in the waters after the recent win of Ahmed Patel defeating his the BJP counterpart Balwant Singh Rajput. Though the competition between the two was extremely close, victory fell in the lap of Congress after the election commission declared two Congress votes invalid, decreasing the magical number required to win to 44.

Responding to the decision of Election Commission, BJP candidate Balwant Singh Rajput will challenge the verdict of EC in court informed BJP’s Gujarat incharge Bhupender Yadav. “It is clear that Rajput lost only because of EC decision, because of the loss of two votes. He will challenge that in court,” Yadav said.

Covering the defeat of the BJP candidate Bhupendra said that the voting results and the quitting MLAs from Congress clearly shows anger and disappointment the Congress members had with the party. He added that his party fought well and the win of Patel will not in any way impact the results Gujarat Assembly polls due later this year. He further told that the state wants stability and continuity and BJP members are working towards achieving these goals.

Bhupendra also alleged that it may be possible that Congress deliberately planned to get the votes declared invalid to reduce the requisite number to 44.
