NEW DELHI: Bhaichung Bhutia, the previous India football skipper, has quit legislative issues five years after he joined the Trinamool Congress of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He declared today that he hosted quit Bengal’s decision get-together and was not related to “any political gathering in India”.

The 41-year-old footballer, who challenged races twice as a Trinamool Congress competitor and lost the two times, made his declaration via web-based networking media.

“Starting today I have authoritatively surrendered from the participation and all the official and political posts of All India Trinamool Congress party. I am not anymore a part or connected with any political gathering in India,” Mr Bhutia said in a tweet.

Mr. Bhutia challenged the 2014 Lok Sabha race from Darjeeling yet lost to the BJP’s SS Ahluwalia by a tremendous edge. After two years, the striker challenged the West Bengal Assembly races from Siliguri and lost to a CPM competitor.

The Press Trust of India cited sources as saying that Bhutia had educated the Trinamool Congress about his choice one month back as he might have been “never again keen on being related with any political gathering”.

Mr Bhutia resigned from proficient football in 2011. In 2013, he ventured out into governmental issues by joining the Trinamool.

A year ago, he was accepted to have vexed his gathering by opposing the official line and sponsorship the disturbance for a different Gorkhaland, which caused more than 100 days of distress in Darjeeling. Mamata Banerjee as of late said Sikkim – Mr Bhutia’s local state – was mixing up inconvenience in Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

The footballer has in recent years also set up a series of coaching institutes – the Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools – in New Delhi.
