Haryana‘s former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday, speaking on the rift in his Congress unit assured that he will not break away from the party. He said he would accept the decisions of the supporter’s panel on his faction.

His presence at Veer Bhumi (on 75th Rajiv Gandhi Jayanti celebration) with other senior leaders of the Congress party was seen as the bridging of the distance between the leader and party. The main issue for his dissatisfaction from the party is said to be the difference of his stand with Ashok Tanwar, who is the existing President of Haryana Congress unit. Hooda wants to become the President of Haryana Congress committee.

Now the whole task has fallen on to the shoulders of AICC (All India Congress Committee) which has to decide whether to retain Tanwar or bring Bhupinder Hooda in his place.

Earlier, with his strong support to the repeal of Article 370, Bhupinder Singh Hooda had made many senior leaders in Congress party unhappy. Addressing a “Parivartan Maha rally” from Rohtak, the leader previously slammed his party leaders for not supporting the nation on the repeal of Article 370.

He, as quoted by ANI, said “When the government does something right, I always support it. Many of my colleagues opposed the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370. They have lost their way. It is not the same Congress as it used to be.” This statement by Bhupinder Singh Hooda led to the creation of another ideological difference in Congress over the matter of Article 370.

Speaking for his case, Bhupinder Hooda had also announced the formation of a 25-member committee to decide the future course of Hooda’s faction. Ashok Tanwar had, therefore, questioned the party discipline ethics of Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

From many days, it has been widely speculated that the leader can leave his party. His virtual threats had further made this fear possible among his followers. But now, he allayed all the speculation in his clear-cut address to the media.
