A Biju Janta Dal (BJD) delegation met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in a bid to create a passage for Women Reservation Bill and requested the Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister to pass a resolution in favor of the Bill.

Biju Janta Dal Delegation led by Debiprasad Mishra urged the Minister Palaniswami to help in arriving at a consensus on the issue among all parties. Mishra also urged him to pass a resolution in favor of the Bill in the Winter Session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Debiprasad Mishra said of BJD while speaking to news Agency ANI said: “We have discussed the issue of Women’s Reservation Bill with Chief Minister Palaniswami on Friday. Women are a key factor in society. Around 50 percent of our population consists of women. Palaniswami has assured all help. It is high time the women get their due equity.”

Naveen Patnaik led BJD government in Odisha government has already adopted a resolution proposing 33 percent reservation for women in parliament and state assemblies.

Earlier, this week, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has earnestly appealed to all the political parties to agree upon the passage of Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

While speaking at Women Entrepreneurship Platform Conclave, Naidu presented Women Transforming India Awards 2018. He addressed the conclave by saying, “The contribution of Indian women to GDP, currently at 17 percent, was well below the global average of 37 percent.”
