Biju Janata Dal (BJD) who is seeking another term in the state has on Thursday knocked Chief Electoral Officer, Bhubaneswar, with a letter over violation of Election Commission guidelines by Bharatiya Janata Party for holding a press meet on the voting day.

The Odisha ruling party claimed that the details of the Bharatiya Janata Party being provided on scrolling news on OTV.

In a letter which was address CEC Bhubaneshwar BJD giving a reference about EC Letter that talked about ‘Silence Period’ claimed that BJP has violated the guidelines.

BJD in the letter stated that EC in a letter directed Political Parties and Political Leaders should be refrain from addressing the media by way of press conferences and giving interviews on election matters’

BJD further requesting for action said, ‘It was shocking to note that BJP and its Leader Samir Mohanty has given a Press Meet today afternoon. Further, OTV has been scrolling the content of this Press Meet continuously from 2 pm onwards’.

‘They further said that strict action should be taken against the Bharatiya Janata Party and its Leaders as well as OTV for the violation.

Earlier,  Naveen Patnaik‘s Biju Janta Dal (BJD) lodged a complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party for allegedly cheating 4.5 crore people of Odisha. The complaint was lodged against BJP for not mentioning the Odisha’s demand of special category status in the manifesto for 2019 elections.

General Elections 2019 and State Polls in Odisha is clubbed. BJD in a run-up to the polls will take on aggressive Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress. The State will Poll on the four rounds of Polling starting from April 11. Polling in four Lok Sabha Seat including Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur, Koraput is currently polling to elect new representatives.

The State has a total of 147 State Assembly while having 21 Lok Sabha Seats. Currently, BJD has 117 lawmakers in the state assembly.

The Counting of votes for the mega battle of ballots and the State Polls will take place on May 23, four days after last round of polling.
