The ruling AIADMK on Tuesday announced an alliance with Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019. According to the Poll Pact, PMK will field its candidates on 7 Lok Sabha Seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

Announcing the Poll Tie-up in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said it has also been decided that the PMK will be allocated a Rajya Sabha seat. As per the deal, PMK will also back ruling AIADMK in the by-elections slated for 21 Assembly Seats.

A formal agreement in this regard was signed between the leadership of AIADMK and PMK of the two parties in a city hotel.

PMK founder leader S Ramadoss described the coalition as “an alliance for people’s welfare, a mega-coalition, and a victorious alliance.” “To retrieve the rights of Tamil Nadu people, we have made a 10-point charter of demands,” Ramadoss said.

“This coalition will be successful in all the 40 constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,” he said.

The rationale for aligning with the AIADMK will be explained by his son and former Union Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss later, he said.

However, It is said that the alliance of AIADMK and PMK is likely to include Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) and the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) in the larger picture in a run-up to the Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

These come days after BJP Tamil Nadu In-charge Piyush Goyal held key meetings in Chennai with AIADMK Leaders to pack deal for Lok Sabha Polls 2019. A scheduled visit to Chennai by BJP chief Amit Shah was canceled today, but sources say he may travel to the Tamil Nadu capital in the evening. Union Minister Piyush Goyal is in Chennai to hold talks with the AIADMK and the DMDK.

However, it was earlier expected that PMK aligns with DMK and Congress but putting an end to all speculations PMK joined Hands with AIADMK.
