The BJP unit of Karnataka’s state government has alleged that the HD Kumaraswamy government has tapped the cell phones of the political leaders across party lines. They based their allegation on the fact that the state government feared that the disgruntled MLA ’s from the ruling CongressJDS coalition may resign.

“According to my information phone numbers of political leaders and MLAs from both opposition and ruling side are being tapped by this government through its officials and police department,” said C T Ravi about the allegations he posed to the ruling party.

These claims are based on reports that a few MLA’s from Congress wasn’t satisfied with the government and its policies and had hence planned to bring down the ruling party by joining hands with the opposition to bring down the government. The Congress leaders were mainly dissatisfied as the Kumaraswamy government looked into its own needs, hence branding it a ‘daily wage governance’ with no scope for ‘trust and coordination’. Taking another jab at the JDS- Congress government, Ravi stated:

“There was no need for BJP to make any attempts to topple the government as preparations are already on within the coalition for it”

The allegations are not only based of inefficient governance and personal interest but also about the reports that Kumaraswamy and former chief ministers and coordination committee chief Siddaramaiah were allegedly not willing to share the stage at an event. Another ground where the opposition has voiced its displeasure is regarding the rain situation in the coastal regions. There have been heavy rains in the regions of  Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada.

“Immediately government has to take necessary steps to address this grave situation. District in-charge ministers should camp in their respective districts and monitor the situation,” he said with reference to the prevailing situation.
