Along with the presidential election, India is gearing up to choose the next vice-president too. After the Presidential election on July 17, the election for the post of vice president will be held on August 5. The incumbent Vice President Hamid Ansari will vacate the office on August 10.

Currently, BJP is facing the problem of organising two events of the Presidential election and the monsoon session both falling on July 17, another issue the party will have to tackle with is the Vice-presidential polls. With both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party President Amit Shah out of the National Capital, the party will have to decide the candidate for the Vice-Presidential poll and file the nomination before the monsoon session starts from July 17. The last day to file the nominations is July 18.

The party is holding a meeting for its parliamentary board on July 9, after Modi returns from G20 summit. Amit Shah is also leaving for a three day trip to Gujarat trip on the same day for three days. During the meeting, the candidate will be decided for the nomination and the filing will be done between July 12 and July 14.
