Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha filed a complaint with the Election Commission over the issuance of postal ballot. In a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that the polling officials issued more postal ballots than required for the government Officials who were on electoral duty.

Demanding a strict action over the issue, Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that more postal ballots were issued against the total number of government employees on election duty in respect of that district & constituency, urges that appropriate action should be taken.

BJP demanded that the Poll Commission should also take strict action against the poll officials. It also requested the EC to verify and cancel the extra postal ballots.

BJP in the state is taking on the Naveen Patnaik‘s Biju Janata Party (BJD) and Congress who has forged an alliance with Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

General elections 2019 in the state held in four phases and simultaneously with the State Polls. The State has a total of 147 State Assembly Seats while having 21 Lok Sabha Seats.

Currently, BJD has 117 lawmakers in the state assembly and 20 MPs. The Counting of votes for the mega battle of ballots and the State Polls will take place on May 23.

It should be noted that almost all exit polls on Sunday after the culminating of last phase predicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to return in power.

Almost all Exit polls predicted a clear Majority to Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with above 300 seats. Polls predicted party’s landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand among others.

Exit Polls also predicted that BJP in Odisha is making inroads and projected to bag big from the Naveen Patnaik’s bastion.
