Lucknow, May 7 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a complaint against the Samajwadi Party for using two minor children in its election campaign.

According to state BJP Vice President J.P.S. Rathore, at an election meeting in Balrampur, two minor boys with symbols of SP and BSP painted on their bodies were made to stand in the blazing sun.

The meeting was addressed by SP President Akhilesh Yadav.

Rathore, while submitting the complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer L. Venkateshwarlu, said that the incident was a violation of the model code of conduct and was inhuman, insensitive and cruel towards the minor children.

The BJP has sought action against Akhilesh Yadav so that it can send a strong message to all political parties.

Earlier on similar lines, BJP Nominee in Chandigarh Kirron Kher was served a notice by the nodal officer for alleged using the children in her poll campaign. Kher, later, apologized to the Poll Commission over the issue.

Samajwadi Party (SP) in the state is contesting polls in an alliance with BSP and RLD. RLD gets 3 Lok Sabha seat in the alliance, Ajit Singh led party has named its candidates on Mathura, Muzaffarnagar and Baghpat – where polling held in phase-I on April 11.

General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23. The voting in 80 Lok Sabha seat of the state is being held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19.

Voting for the remaining 27 constituencies of the state will be held in final two phases slated on May 12 and May 19.
