The Bharatiya Janta Party on Wednesday issued a whip to its Lok Sabha, directing them to be present in the House on July 25. The three-line whip issued by the party instructs all members of the House to be present tomorrow for the proceedings.
While earlier in the day, the party had also issued a whip to its Rajya Sabha MPs (/search?query=MPs) to be present in the House. BJP-led Centre is trying to pass several important bills in the ongoing session of the Parliament.
A ten-day extension of the session was also being thought of by the ruling party to clear all important bills.
As per original schedule, the session of the parliament is slated to end on July 26.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board meeting, has already indicated that the government may extend the ongoing session of the Parliament by ‘three to five days’.
In the meantime, Lok Sabha has been functioning for more than it’s scheduled time and has been sitting late to give the opportunity to all the MPs to raise their issues. As per the PRS Legislative Research, NGO working and tracking the functioning of Parliament, the productivity of the 17th Lok Sabha is highest for any session in the past 20 years.
While PRS Legislative Research Data further claimed that the productivity of the Rajya Sabha is 98%.
