Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Union Minister Shatrughan Sinha will no longer be treated as a VIP at the Patna airport. According to a report by news agency ANI, a BJP MP from Patna Sahib constituency will be subjected to security checks and regular frisking at the Patna airport.

Jay Prakash Narayan Airport’s Director Rajendra Singh Lahauriya on Monday as quoted by ANI Sinha will no more be exempted from security checks and regular frisking. “The facilities were extended to Sinha for a period which ended in June this year. No orders have been received for extending the same”, informed Jay Prakash Narayan Airport’s Director Lauhariya while responding to question posed by ANI reporter about facilities extended to the former Union Minister.

Apart from being exempted from security checks and regular fisking, the facility also allowed Sinha to take his vehicle to the tarmac- a privilege extended to VIPs. Sinha, who has been an MP since 2014, has of late become a critic of the Bhartiya Janta Party.

Most recently on December 31st in a series of tweets, he has criticized the Demonetization and GST and termed them as “arbitrarily forced on to the nation”.
