Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday directed all its MPs of both the houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – to submit the status report of their performance in parliament and mention the steps taken by them in a efforts to solve the problems faced by their respective constituencies.

BJD Parliamentarians have been directed to submit the performance report every two months starting from August.

In a letter to party MPs, Naveen Patnaik stated that he will review the performance of the parliamentarians and will give suggestions on various issues. ‘I will review those reports regularly and give you crucial suggestions on various issues. I will suggest you work wholeheartedly for the development of our state and welfare for the people’, Patnaik said in a letter to MPs.

Patnaik further asserted that people have trusted them and provided an opportunity to serve them.

In a letter, BJD President added, ‘It is because of our efforts to work towards the fulfillment of the dreams and aspirations of the people of Odisha, they have provided us an opportunity to serve them for the fifth term and also helped us to attain a majority of Lok Sabha Seats in the state, therefore we have a huge responsibility both in the state and centre’, Patnaik said in a letter to its MPs.

BJD in the recently concluded state polls won 112 seats, 5 less than what they had won in 2014 State polls. While BJP won 23, Congress 9 and one each bag by CPI-M and Independent Candidate. Odisha has a total of 147 Assembly seats.

While in national polls, BJD won 12, BJP managed to make inroads in the state with its victory on 8 Lok Sabha Seats while Congress only won a single Lok Sabha Seat.
