BJP Party President Amit Shah as a part of his Vistarak Programme, a strategy to visit every state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, is on his first visit for two days to Uttrakhand since the BJP won 57 seats in the 70-member assembly six months back.

During the first day of his visit, Shah held a number of meetings on Tuesday with the party members and leaders. He also took feedback from the members about the progress of the party organisation after Trivendra Singh Rawat led BJP came to power in the state six months back. He held six meetings on his first day in Dehradun.

A party member who attended the meeting quoted Shah saying that “Sangathan sarkar banati hai. Sarkar sangathan nahi banati hai.” Amit Shah while addressing the party members at a local hotel said that the organisation makes the government and not that the government makes an organisation.

Another party member in his statement to the ET said that the BJP President had given full opportunity all the members present during the meeting to put forward their vie and suggestion to strengthen the bond and cooperation between the party and the organisation.

According to the sources around 200 party members were present for the meeting. Some of them included the MLAs, MPs, former chief ministers, former MPs, former MLAs. The party meeting was headed by Amit Shah and accompanied by Uttrakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh and state BJP Chief Ajay Bhatt.

During the meeting, Shah expressed his concerns over the matters that neede the attention of the Central government. Among the problems put forward and discussed, one was brought to attention by Former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna’s son and MLA Saurabh Bahuguna. He underlined the issues faced by the industrial unit in his Sitarganj seat pointing out that 42 units had already been shut down till date. Responding to this Shah had asked Saurabh to send a detailed report to his office regarding the shutdown of the industrial units.

Another problem was brought up by Rajesh Shukla, who had defeated former CM Harish Rawat in Kichcha seat in the assembly polls. He spoke about the financial problems faced by the Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture in his area.

The BJP party President discussed the issues faced by different members and tried to solve their problems. He also spoke about the Lok Sabha elections due in 2019 saying that the BJP is aiming for nothing less than a second term at the Centre.
