The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a run-up to the general elections 2019 replaced Actor-turned Politician Paresh Rawal from Ahmedabad East Parliamentary Seat in Gujarat. The party has named Hasmuk S Patel from the seat for the mega battle of ballots.

HS Patel is a two-time lawmaker from Amraiwadi Assembly seat. He had won is assembly polls twice in 2012 and 2017. The party has dropped Paresh Rawal after the Actor has shown his willingness not to contest the mega battle of ballots 2109.

Paresh Rawal has earlier said that he has told the party that he doesn’t want to contest the national elections 2019.

The party with the announcement of HS Patel has now declared candidates on 370 Parliamentary Seats with 24 in Gujarat.

The Congress has named Geetaben Patel from the seat. Congress has so far declared candidates on 24 seats out of the total 26 seats of the state.

Bhartiya Janta Party earlier in its first list of 184 Candidates announced Prime Minister Narendra Modi contesting from Varanasi, BJP President Amit Shah from Gandhi Nagar. While party in its other lists declared BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri, Odisha, Smriti Irani from Amethi, Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, among others.

Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. Lok Sabha Polls are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19.

Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.

26 Seats on Gujarat will go to poll for the mega battle of ballots on April 23.

In 2014 National Elections, the saffron party had won all seats in Gujarat.
