After finalizing alliance terms with Shiv Sena and AIADMK in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu respectively, Bhartiya Janta Party on Thursday finalized Alliance terms and seat arrangement with its one of the Oldest Allies, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab for Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

As per the seat sharing arrangement, Bhartiya Janta Party will contest on 3 Lok Sabha Seats while Shiromani Akali Dal will field its candidates on remaining 10 Lok Sabha Seats. Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha Seats.

The Seat Sharing arrangement was finalized after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders including Sukhbir Singh Badal met BJP President Amit Shah today at the latter’s residence in Delhi.

“SAD-BJP alliance with fight the 2019 Lok Sabha elections together. Their seats will remain the same as they were in 2014. SAD will contest on 10 seats and the BJP on three,” Shah tweeted after stitching an alliance with SAD in Punjab.

Lok Sabha Elections are slated for April-May this year.

In a bid to retain power in the Centre, Bhartiya Janta Party is currently busy in stiching alliances with its allies across states. Prior to this, BJP has recently finalized the Alliance with Maharastra Ally Shiv Sena with 25:23 seat formula in Maharashtra. In Tamil Nadu, BJP has recently stitched an alliance with AIADMK to contest five seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

In 2014 General Elections, BJP-SAD alliance won 6 Lok Sabha Seats with BJP emerged victorious on 2 seats while SAD on 4. Congress who suffered major setback across the nation managed to win 3 Lok Sabha Seats in Punjab while debutant Aam Aadmi Party bagged 4 Lok Sabha Seats in 2014 General Elections.
