The issue of attack on Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to the flood affected area of Gujarat, was raised in the Lok Sabha today. Congress had alleged that the attack was a result of carelessness on the part of the BJP-led Gujarat government. They had deliberately not made proper security arrangements for Rahul Gandhi. The party leaders also alleged that the attackers were members of BJP and RSS. A BJP member was also arrested regarding the same.
Responding to the allegations made by Congress, Home Minister Rajnath Singh during the proceedings of the Lok Sabha said that in spite of being requested many times Rahul violated the security protocols. He said that the government had made full arrangements for his security and even asked him to travel in a bullet proof car but Rahul violated the instructions given by the Special Protection Group (SPG).
Counter attacking the statement of Rajnath Singh, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said that BJP is busy saving its leaders. Rajnath Singh should not play politics in such crucial matters, Rahul could have been killed had the stone had hit him, he added. A worker of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha was also arrested in this connection. He alleged that BJP leaders are breaking the law openly and the government has proved to be unsuccessful in controlling them. Digvijay Singh also said that the government should take immediate and strict actions against the guilty regarding such crucial issues.
Congress general secretary Madhusudan Mistry also accused that BJP is busy saving its skin. The leader of the Youth Wing of the BJP’s party had hit the stone at Rahul’s car and the party is trying to save them by calling them, unknown people he added.
