BJP slams Nitish Kumar over his resignation as Bihar CM, says ‘Betrayal of Bihar's people’

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday, slammed former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar over his decision to quit the National Democratic Alliance. BJP said that the move was a ‘betrayal’ of Bihar’s people and the BJP.

Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal said during a press conference, “We fought the 2020 polls together under NDA, the mandate was for JDU and BJP, we won more seats. Despite that, Nitish Kumar was made the CM. Whatever happened today is a betrayal of Bihar’s people and the BJP”.

Jaiswal said that despite winning 74 seats, the PM and the Home Minister decided to keep the promise and made Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister of Bihar after the 2020 Assembly elections.

He added that the mandate in the 2020 Assembly polls was against the previous JD(U)-RJD alliance governments in the state.

“The people of Bihar will not accept this decision. Whatever has happened would be best answered by the Chief Minister,” he further said.

Union Minister and MP Arrah, RK Singh, said that Nitish Kumar’s decision to quit the National Democratic Alliance was for ‘power’ and added that there was no morality in his decision.

“15 years of RJD rule took the state backwards. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also said this multiple times. How will he justify entering into an alliance with the RJD whom he said is corrupt? All of this is for power. There is no morality and he should be ashamed, said Union Minister RK Singh.

Nitish Kumar stepped down as the Chief Minister of Bihar and was announced as the leader of Mahagathbandhan, in alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and other parties. Shortly after resigning as CM, Kumar said that the decision to part ways from the NDA was made by the JD(U).

BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Modi said, “Nitish Kumar won’t get that respect with RJD that he got while being with BJP. We made him CM despite having more seats & never tried to break his party. We broke only those who betrayed us. In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena betrayed us & faced consequences” amid political turmoil in Bihar.

Meanwhile, the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister and Deputy chief minister will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm at Raj Bhavan.
