Disgruntled former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has attacked the party’s leadership for attempting to form the government despite not crossing the majority mark, saying it will succeed in winning today’s confidence motion using deceitful means.

Sinha, who quit the BJP last month after criticizing its leadership, described the party’s attempts to forming the government in Karnataka as a “rehearsal” for Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 2019. In his tweet attacking BJP, Sinha said he is glad to have quit the party that is trying to get into power like this.

“I am glad I have left the party which is so brazenly trying to subvert democracy in Karnataka. It will do the same if it fails to get a majority in the Lok Sabha next year. Please note my warning,” said the former Finance Minister under Atal Behari Vajpayee’s NDA government.

Sinha said MLAs will now be auctioned like “IPL players” and they will support the party that will give them maximum money. “I can predict that tomorrow’s vote of no-confidence in Karnataka will be won by BJP by foul means. Just wait and watch,” he told reporters.

Sinha has been highly vocal about his disdain for BJP’s senior leadership ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014. After publicly criticizing the government several times, Sinha finally quits BJP last month on the birthday of his son Jayant Sinha, who is currently a member of the cabinet and Lok Sabha MP.
