Bhartiya Janta Party‘s Candidate Krishna Lal Middha on Thursday won Jind Bypolls in Haryana defeating Congress Randeep Surjewala and JJP’s Digvijay Singh Chautala with a margin of 12935 votes securing a total of 50566. Jannayak Janata Party (JJP)’s Candidate Digvijay Singh Chautala garners 37631 votes and Congress’ Randeep Singh Surjwala gets 22740 votes.

BJP’s Candidate Krishna Middha is the son of former MLA INLD Hari Chand Middha.

Krishan Middha took a leader over JJP candidate Digvijay Singh Chautala after the fourth round of counting.

Digvijay Chautala, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) after BJP wins JindByPoll said, I would like to congratulate BJP for their victory. There were several faults detected in EVMs, we will take up that issue in the internal party meeting first&then it will be briefed before media.

Congress Candidate Randeep Singh Surjewala, after his defeat, congratulated Midhha and said, he hoped Krishan Middha and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would fulfil the dreams of the people of Jind. He added “I was given a responsibility by the party which I fulfilled to the best of my abilities,” Randeep Singh Surjewala told.

The Polls in the seat necessitated after the seat had fallen vacant after the death of sitting INLD MLA Hari Chand Middha in August last year.

The voting in the seat saw a high turnout of 75.77% and was dubbed as a prestige battle for all political parties ahead of Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

However, there were reports claiming Surjewala refused to contest the by-polls but after later agreed after Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi himself asked to contest the by-election.
