Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President BS Yeddyurappa and other BJP Leaders will meet the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala amid the ongoing political turmoil in the state. He made the announcement during the sit-in protest outside Vidhana Soudha.
BJP State President said, ‘We will meet the Karnataka Assembly Speaker at 3 pm today. Speaker has still not condemned tearing up of resignations of MLAs by DK Shivakumar. Tearing up of resignations is an ‘apradh’ (crime) that is unforgivable’, as quoted by ANI.
Raising questions on the number of MLAs the ruling coalition have, Yeddyurappa said, ‘On 12th July, Assembly session will begin but they don’t have the numbers, it will be an illegal session. It is not too late, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy should resign and make way for a Bharatiya Janata Party government’.
Former Karnataka CM and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa in Bengaluru: On 12th July, Assembly session will begin but they don't have the numbers, it will be an illegal session. It is not too late, you (Karnataka CM, HD Kumaraswamy) should resign and make way for a BJP govt. https://t.co/m2eTzDhw9Y

Earlier in the day, he raised questions on Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar saying that the Assembly speaker had earlier stated that 5-6 resignations are in the correct format. Then why there is a delay in accepting the resignation of those 5-6 Legislators.
In the meantime, rebel MLAs of Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) approached the Top Court against the Assembly Speaker for delaying in accepting their resignation. The Rebels alleged that Assembly Speaker is not performing his constitutional duty and deliberately delaying the acceptance of their resignations submitted with him since Saturday.
The top court is likely to take up the matter on tomorrow.
It should be noted that the Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar had on Tuesday said that out of all the 13 Resignations submitted only 5 are in the correct format. While rest the remaining Eight is not in the correct format. He asked the MLAs to submit the resignation again properly.
The 13-months old coalition government suffered a huge setback on Saturday when 11 MLAs from Congress–JD(S) ruling coalition tendered their resignation.
If the resignation of all 13 MLAs, 11 MLAs of Congress-JDS and 2 Independent MLAs, are accepted then the coalition government will be reduced to a minority with 103 MLAs which is 9 less than the required figures.
