Karnataka BJP chief and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that his party would form government in the state in a span of 24 hours if the BJP wins 22 seats in the upcoming elections.

Karnataka is scheduled to vote on 18th April, has 28 legislators to the Lok Sabha.

Yeddyurappa said, “If the people of Karnataka give us 22 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, we will form the government in Karnataka within 24 hours,” ANI quoted him as saying on Monday.

Previously, B S Yeddyurappa landed in a controversy when he said that the party would win 22 seats in the state as a result of the Indian Air Force  strike in Balakot, following the Pulwama Massacre.

The Former CM received extensive criticism in various spheres, including Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Later, Yeddyurappa said that his words were taken out of context, and he didn’t mean exactly what is propagated.

The Congress formed a post-poll alliance with the JD(S) and that became a talking point for a grand alliance of Opposition parties for this year’s Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP in Karnataka, emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly elections last year, but fell short of the majority mark.

The Congress, which finished second, swiftly extended its support to the JD(S) which staked claim to form the government, and HD Kumaraswamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state.

Several leaders of the opposition, in recent times alleged Karnataka BJP Chief B S Yeddyurappa of horse-trading their legislators.

However, Yeddyurappa denied the allegations.
