Three days after the Congress-JD (S) coalition government collapsed after losing the trust vote in Assembly, BJP leader and Chief Minister-in-waiting BS Yeddyurappa on Friday announced that he will meet Governor Vajubhai Vala and will stake claim to form a government today.

Speaking to media in Bengaluru, BS leader said that he will urge the Governor to hold the oath-taking ceremony today itself. BS Yeddyurappa told media, ‘I am going to meet Governor to stake claim to form government in the state. I would request to hold oath-taking ceremony today itself.

Earlier, It was expected that a call on forming a government will be taken by the BJP High Command. Speaking to media after the meeting Amit Shah, Shettar, who was a part of Delegation told media, ‘We met Amit Shah ji and JP Nadda and informed them about the political scenario of the state. They want to discuss the matter again at 3 pm and then they will take a call on the formation of BJP Government in the State’.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy led coalition government on Tuesday fell after it suffered a defeat in the floor test of the assembly.

“Chief Minister Kumaraswamy has lost the floor test, as 99 votes were in favor of the confidence motion and 105 against it,” Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar told the members of the House after the trust vote.

With 20 MLAs defying the party whip and were absent for the floor test, the strength of the 225-member Karnataka Assembly was reduced to 204 with 103 as the halfway mark for a simple majority.

The political crisis in the state begun early this month with the resignation of 11 MLAs of Congress and Janata Dal (Secular). As the crisis deepens, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had on July 18 announced to hold a trust vote in the Assembly.
