Days after facing a massive defeat in the recently concluded national polls, Bahujan Samajwadi Party Supremo Mayawati has called a meeting of newly elected MPs in the national capital.

While the party has also invited all the zone in charge and district presidents to discuss the poll debacle in the recently held national polls. The Meeting is slated to be held on June 3 where other senior members of the party will also be present.

The party in the meeting is likely to introspect on the reasons behind the poll disaster in Uttar Pradesh in national polls that concluded on May 23.

BSP Supremo had on May 23 accused BJP of manipulating EVMs to win the election.

The Bahujan Samajwadi Party had forged an alliance with SP and Ajit Singh‘s RLD in the state. It had only managed to bag only 10 seats out of the 38 contested seat in a poll tie-up with SP-RLD in Uttar Pradesh. It had in 2014 national polls drew a blank.

While Samajwadi Party won 5 out of 37 contested seats. While RLD lost all three contested seats in the recently held polls.

Mayawati after the poll disaster has yet to make any statement about the future of the Mahagathbandan in the state. A State BSP Functionary speaking on the issue claimed that Mayawati Ji would not snap ties with SP and RLD. She wants Akhilesh Yadav‘s SP to make the first move.

“As far as by-elections to 11 Assembly segments in UP is concerned, the BSP, as always will not contest by-elections and SP can draw up its own strategy.” a BSP State level functionary told media.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party, on May 23 scripted history by bagging 303 seats on its own in the recently concluded national polls. Along with its allies, it took its tally to 352 Lok Sabha Seats out of 542 Seats were national polls held in April-May in seven phases.

In Uttar Pradesh, BJP along with its ally Apna Dal (S) won 64 Lok Sabha Seats. While the three-party alliance could only win 15 seats – SP 5 and BSP 10.

While Congress continued its poor performance and improved its tally marginally by 8 to reach 52 seats across all 542 in the 2019 national polls. It had only managed to won a single seat – Sonia Gandhi‘s Rae Bareli – out of the 80 Lok Sabha Seats of the Uttar Pradesh. It had got 6.3% vote share from Uttar Pradesh. It has also lost its Bastion Amethi, where BJP Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi.
