Tension is prevailing on the borders of Sikkim between India and China regarding the threat of China to lodge a war if Indian troops do not move out of Dokalam area.

Amid the crisis the Centre made its point clear on Wednesday that business will not be hampered on the border because of the on going tensions. It said that the Centre did not hold any discussion to decline security clearances to Chinese firms investing in India.

When asked whether the Government was intentionally delaying the security clearance due to the Sino-India border crisis, a Home Ministry spokesperson replied that the security clearances to Chinese companies were not put on deliberately, he said, “such issues are dealt with great deal of maturity by the concerned agencies at the appropriate level.”

He said that the security clearance has to pass through at least 14-15 parameters, in eight to nine sensitive areas like telecom, ports and civil aviation etc. The spokesperson also cleared foreign investment was not allowed on crucial locations such as areas close to the borders and vital installation areas.
