Punjab cabinet is set to see its first expansion shortly, Amarinder Singh hinted today. According to an official release, the possible expansion will take place before the budget session, which is set to commence in June.

The government in Punjab was formed with Amarinder Singh taking oath as chief minister on March 16th. Initially, there were 9 ministers appointed in the cabinet.

According to an official release, the central leadership of congress has given full authority to Punjab chief minister regarding appointment of ministers and heads of other departments. Also that he is considering factors such as experience, seniority and regional influence before appointing the ministers.

Amarinder Singh further stated that the aim of the leadership is to ensure that all the regions have equal representation in the cabinet. So that, a uniform development of the state can take place. The first session of Punjab assembly commenced today.

Stating that the recently concluded elections were his last, Amarinder Singh stressed on the importance of getting youngsters interested in Politics and added that the government of Punjab will introduce a bill in the assembly to appoint parliamentary secretaries who will be groomed by the ministers so that a whole new generation of politicians get ready to take over, before his political career concludes
