Narendra Modi for the third time, since assuming office as the Prime Minister reshuffled his council of ministers on Sunday. The new appointments were solely done on the basis of the report cards of the ministers or this is what the party claims. However, while many were promoted and many had to face disappointments, even some of the allies of the ruling BJP also had complaints that they were neither informed nor consulted for the reshuffle, in fact, were not even offered positions in the cabinet.

Following the reshuffle in the Modi Cabinet, BJP Party President Amit Shah is also planning to make some changes in the party’s organisational setup. He may appoint some few faces while some may have to walk out the doors. He may also reallocate duties and responsibilities to the already office bearers. The appointment and reallocations will solely be based on the performance.

It is being speculated that BJP national secretaries Srikant Sharma, SN Singh and Mahendra Singh are ministers in the UP government and going by the single post norm, they could be replaced from their party positions.

Though Amit Shah has access to all the BJP workers he is noticed to be more comfortable working with his small team of general secretaries during campaigns, election strategising and coordinating with state units.

According to a Senior BJP leader, few office bearers would be given additional responsibility while some may be asked to hand over the charges of the current projects they are handling to some other leaders.

Following the strategy and principle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having a result oriented party, from the time he has assumed office the BJP workers have tried to perform well to remain in the good books of Modi and Shah. Most of the BJP general secretaries have performed well in past few months and have more or less completed all the task assigned to them. The office bearers have made sure to follow the directions issued by the Party President as he closely himself keeps a watch on all the projects, be it elections or reaching out to leaders from other parties.

So, after new members included in the cabinet and few leaving the ministries the organisational setup of BJP will also witness a revamping and rearrangement soon done by the party president Amit Shah.

The BJP members by now in three years should have understood that if they wish to be in higher positions and maintain good relations with the higher commands than they will have to perform well and complete the tasks assigned to them.
