The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday claimed that the Samajwadi Party Leader Akhilesh Yadav while serving as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh allegedly approved 14 mining leases in Hamirpur district of the state, in violation of his own government’s e-tendering policy and an Allahabad High Court directive.

According to CBI official claimed that approval for 13 of these leases was given on a single day, February 17, 2013, days after the High Court had on January 29 passed an order ratifying the e-tendering policy.

CBI official further added that One of the beneficiaries was former Samajwadi Party MP Ghanshyam Anuragi, to whom the lease was granted during the tenure of Gayatri Prasad Prajapati as Mining Minister in February 2014.

Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s name came under scanner following to dozen of raids in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday conducted raids at a dozen of locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh – Kanpur, Lucknow, Hamirpur, Noida in connection with the Uttar Pradesh illegal mining scam.

CBI sources claimed that all those who were Ministers during the scam will be investigated. It should be noted that Samajwadi Party Chief and Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav held the Mining Department from the year 2012 to 2013. While Yadav has served as the Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017.

Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had on Sunday racked by Modi government and alleged that BJP is using the CBI as a tool for arm-twisting the opposition party leaders.

The issue has also united the alliance. With BSP and SP holding a joint Presser on the issue and back Former CM Yadav. In a Joint Press Conference on Monday Ramgopal Yadav of SP and Satish Mishra of BSP slammed the BJP led government for misusing the CBI.

Party supremo Mayawati reportedly on Sunday called up Akhilesh Yadav and told him that these raids by BJP are nothing new and are their old political tactic which people now understand. We have to fight against this strongly and make their conspiracies unsuccessful, said Party functionary.
