Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, who is holding protest march across the state against the newly amended Citizenship law, has attacked the Modi government once again and said that we have to prove that we are Indian citizens, after 73 years of Independence.

She said, “Suddenly after 73 years of independence we have to prove that we are Indian citizens. Where was BJP’s head and tail at that time, BJP is dividing the country. Don’t stop your protest because we have to get Citizenship Amendment Act revoked.”

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is carrying out a protest march against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act across the state. She said that they will continue their protest against CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC) until they are withdrawn by the Central government.

Few days ago, violent protests escalated to several areas in West Bengal as mobs set buses ablaze, set afire railway property and blockaded road and rail disrupting train and vehicular movement against the new Citizenship Amendment act.

Beledanga railway station complex in West Bengal‘s Murshidabad district was set on fire on Friday evening by thousands of people protesting against the newly amended law. The protesters also thrashed personnel of the Railway Police Force that were at the Beldanga railway station complex.
