Ministry of Urban development under Venkaiah Naidu issued release order of funds worth ₹1263 crores to Yogi Adityanath‘s UP government. The funds will be used for 3 ongoing projects including Lucknow metro and Smart cities.

The announcement of handing over the funds was done after the central minister reviewed the progress of various development programs going in Uttar Pradesh. Out of the funds released today, ₹375 crores will be used for AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation), ₹442 crores for smart city project and remaining 446 crores for the ambitious Lucknow metro.

At a joint press conference which Venkaiah Naidu addressed with Yogi Adityanath, he alleged the previous UP government of not having clear intentions for the betterment of the state and lagging behind in the implementation of development schemes. He added that the voters have already given them a reply. He also added that by voting BJP into power, UP has joined the Modi Mission, which stands for Making of Developing India.

Out of the total fund allocated, ₹119 crores will be used in capital city Lucknow, whereas, Kanpur, Ayodhya and Varanasi will get ₹107 crores each. Meerut and Rae Bareli will also get ₹2 crores each for sending proposal under smart city mission. 61 cities in Uttar Pradesh have been selected under AMRUT where the government will work to provide basic facilities of providing portable water, solid waste management and sanitation.
