Embarking on his mission to bring all the opposition parties together against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu will meet his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.

A TDP State functionary familiar with the development told media, ‘Andhra CM will be meeting  Mamata Banerjee at West Bengal secretariat later in the day’.

Both the bigwigs are expected to discuss the post-poll scenario of the ‘Grand Alliance’. He is expected to brief Banerjee about his meetings with all political leaders.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had recently met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Chandrababu who had a busy Sunday met CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. He had on Saturday met Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav and BSP Supremo Mayawati. 

He had also met NCP Chief Sharad Pawar in a bid to explore possibilities of Grand Alliance after May 23 results if the Centre ruling party failed to reach the magical figure.

Talking to a TV Channel, the TDP chief expressed confidence that the BJP would fall short of a majority and would be unable to form the government.

Chandrababu Naidu, once an ally of BJP, is among those who are spearheading the efforts to stitch Anti-BJP Front. Naidu had in Jan-Feb this year has toured the country extensively seeking support against Bharatiya Janata Party.

It should be noted that almost all exit polls on Sunday predicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to return in power.

Most of the exit polls predicted a clear Majority to Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with above 300 seats. Polls predicted party’s landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand among others.

Reacting on the Exit Polls, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister raised questions on the credibility of the Exit Polls. ‘Time and again exit polls have failed to catch the People’s pulse. Exit polls have proved to be incorrect and far from ground reality in many instances. While undoubtedly TDP govt will be formed in AP, we are confident that non-BJP parties will form a non-BJP govt at the center’, tweeted TDP Chief.

Elections for 543 Lok Sabha seats were held between April 11 and May 19 across 7 phases of elections. The counting of votes for the mega polls is scheduled for May 23.
