Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met a Delegation of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) members and assured them of all support in their fight against the proposed Muslim Women Bill (Triple Talaq Bill) 2018 in the parliament.

The ALMPLB Delegation comprised of Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, Zafaryab Jilani, women’s wing chief organizer Dr. Asma Zahra, Moulana Abdul Basit, Moulana Asif Nadvi, Mufti Mohammed Farooqi Qasmi, and Syeda Ayesha.

The Delegation complained that the Centre Government led by Narendra Modi BJP is politicizing the issue in a bid to get political mileage by changing the Muslim Marriage System which has been in practice for last 1400 years. They said a majority of political parties are opposing the proposed Muslim women’s bill.

The proposed bill which will pave a way to punish Muslim husbands is a violation of rights, they said, adding that the bill is also against the principles of the Indian constitution.

While assuring them of his party’s support, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hit back at Centre Government and blamed them of getting a political mileage with the move. He said his TDP Government in Andhra Pradesh has launched many welfare schemes for minorities and will extend his support to protect their interest.
