Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu accused the Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of transferring Director General (DG) Intelligence, Superintendents of Police of various districts and the chief secretary of state without taking into consideration the state government.

The chief minister wrote in his letter to the Election Commission that any transfer of the DG or superintendent of the police requires the direction of state government, and by ignoring this, the CEO has acted on the frivolous complaints by the oppositions violating the rules.

The Chief Minister wrote in his letter that, “Whether it is a unilateral transfer of the DG intelligence, who was also in charge of the Chief minister’s Z plus security) or it is the unilateral transfer of the police superintendent if the various districts or the transfer of chief secretary, the Ec took the actions without seeking the direction of the state government and acted on the frivolous and frequent complaints from the opposition party (YSRCP) office bearers in Andhra Pradesh.”

He accused the CEO saying that the CEO has instructed his Additional DG Intelligence not to report to the chief minister whereas the DG is directly under the control of the Chief Minister. Chandrababu Naidu said, “Because of the illegal orders of the CEO, Additional DG is not reporting to me.” He asked the Election Commission to answer him who is the reporting authority of Additional DG.

Chandrababu Naidu also accused the CEO of issuing a statement that post-poll the chief minister is devoid of the right to oversee state administration while the Model Code of Conduct is in action. He alleged that the CEO repeatedly mentioned these statements that were covered by various newspapers and media channels.

The statements by the CEO disturbed the perception of democratic governance among the people and established conventions of Democratic polity.

He also alleged that due to the reported misinformation spread by the CEO in the media he is facing embarrassing apprehensions. The CM alleged that the CEO is extending his jurisdiction.
