After Narendra Modi delivering his speech to the almost vacant seas in Dhandhuka, the Prime Minister moved on to hold rallies in Dahod and Netrang also. While addressing the gatherings at all the three locations, Modi attacked the opposition party and brought up the Ayodhya issue. He alleged that it was because of the Congress that the Babri-Masjid and the Ram Mandir issued was not being solved.

The Prime Minister also attacked the Congress leader Kapil Sibal who is representing the Sunni Waqf Board in the Ayodhya case, question his appeal on 5 Dec to postpone the case until the Lok Sabha elections due in 2019. He also congratulated the Waqf board, who deferred with the appeal of Kapil Sibal saying that they wanted to resolve the issue as soon as possible and not postpone it till 2019.

Taking a dig at the Congress party, Narendra Modi while addressing the gathering at Netrang said that the party feels that one family won India’s freedom. “Congress feels only one family won India freedom. They forget the contribution of the tribal communities to India’s freedom struggle,” Modi said. Underlining the efforts of the BJP government Narendra Modi said that hard work of the poor was the asset of the BJp. He also claimed that his government worked for the for tribal welfare and ensured better education and healthcare.

“They call us a Government of the rich. It is the blessings of the poor that make us rich. Our asset is the hard work of the poor. Our Government worked for tribal welfare, ensured better education, healthcare,” Modi said in Netrang.

Meanwhile, other BJP stalwarts were holding rallies in different parts of Gujarat. The Hindutva face of BJP, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed a rally in Amreli. Ahead of Yogi’s speech, BJP leader Anurag Thakur was addressing the gathering and he also brought up the Ayodhya issue.

While Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was delivering his speech, suddenly a young man from the audience repeatedly began shouting ‘Jai Bhim’. He also threw a bar of soap at the speaking Yogi, this probably was in wake of the incident when the Yogi government had distributed soaps to the Dalits back in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Adityanath’s visit, a few months back.

Though, within seconds of this incident, the man was thrown out of the venue by police personnel. But the chanting of ‘Jai Bhim’ and throwing of soap at Yogi and even more the vacant chairs at Modi’s rally is speaking a lot about the mood of the Gujaratis towards BJP.

However, responding to the incident, Yogi Adityanath was quick to comment back that “Nobody respects Bhimrao Ambedkar more than the BJP.” He also warning the people, added that “If Rahul Gandhi comes to power, it will be the onset of ‘mafia raj’. The mafia originated in Italy after all.”

During his address, attacking the Congress and the frequent visits of Rahul Gandhi to the temples he said that the party and the Congress leaders were hypocrites. He recalled the incident when the Congress had questioned the existence of Lord Ram and Krishna, questioning that if the party did not believe in Gods, why put up this false show of visiting the temples and calling themselves, ‘Shiv Bhakts’. He also questioned the Congress wanted to see the Ram Temple be built in Ayodhya or not. “It is like playing mischievously with the Hindu belief. The Congress will have to clarify whether it wants to see the Ram Mandir constructed in Ayodhya or not,” he said.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister further attacked the Congress and Rahul Gandhi for being a devotee of the Shiv. He recalled the incident when the Congress had tried to demolish the Ram Setu, questioning the existence of Ram and Krishna. “The Congress government at the Centre had tried to demolish the Ram Setu which was built due to the effort of Lord Ram. When the matter was challenged in the Supreme Court, the Congress government had filed an affidavit raising question on the existence of Ram and Krishna,” he said.

Yogi Adityanath also advised Rahul Gandhi to visit the temple out of faith and not out of hypocrisy. “Rahul Gandhi should be asked that when he does not believe in Ram, Shiva, Krishna and when he said that people go to the temple to tease women, then why do you go to the temple? Nothing wrong in going to temple but do so out of faith and not hypocrisy,” he said.

The Hindutva face of BJP, taking a dig at the opposition said that when the Congress was in power in Gujarat before 1995 there was no electricity, roads, and water. He further alleged that during the Congress rule in Gujarat there was “gundaraj and gang wars.  Wherever Rahul Gandhi’s Congress goes, it takes mafia-raj (rule of mafia) along with it.”

The response of the people is seemingly mixed and it is hard to guess as to which party will nail the victory. But one thing is for sure that Congress, unlike earlier, is giving a tough fight to the ruling BJP in Gujarat and both the parties are in a close margin with each other. The winner will only be known on 18 Dec when the polls results for both the phases will be announced. In the first phase that will be held on 9 Nov, 89 of the total 182 seats will go to polls and the remaining seats will face the elections on 14 Dec.
